Halloween is one of my favorite times to pull out a sketchbook because there are so many fun little things to draw. Ghosts, pumpkins, candy, black cats. You really can’t run out of ideas!
I put together 31 easy Halloween doodles that you can draw step by step. Most start with really simple shapes, so you don’t need to be an experienced artist to try them.
Grab a pencil or your favourite drawing pen and let’s get started!

You don’t need fancy supplies to create beautiful floral doodles. Just gather a few basics, and you’re ready to start drawing.

Cute Halloween Characters
1. Cute Ghost
This little ghost is one of the easiest Halloween doodles in the collection. Start with a simple rounded shape, add the wavy bottom, and finish with a sweet little face.
Lightly Sketched Tip: Try changing the expression to make your ghost look surprised, sleepy or spooky.
2. Cute Skull
A skull might look tricky to draw, but this one is made from very simple shapes. The oversized eyes and tiny details keep it much more cute than creepy.
Lightly Sketched Tip: Add little hearts, flowers or stars around your skull for a fun sugar-skull-inspired look.
3. Black Cat
No Halloween doodle collection would be complete without a black cat! Start with the basic head shape, add pointed ears and facial features, then build the body underneath.
Lightly Sketched Tip: A curved tail will give your cat even more personality.
4. Cute Bat
This cute bat starts with a simple round head before the ears, body and wings are added. Keep the wings small and rounded for that adorable Halloween look.
Lightly Sketched Tip: Draw a few tiny bats around a moon to create an easy Halloween night scene.
5. Cute Vampire
Our little vampire looks much friendlier than the traditional kind! Draw the face and hair first, then add the cape and those tiny vampire fangs.

This mummy is another easy Halloween drawing made mostly from rounded shapes and lines. Once the basic character is finished, add bandages across the head and body.

7. Cute Frankenstein
Start Frankenstein with a simple square-ish head, then add his hair, face and little neck bolts. A few small details are all you need to make him instantly recognizable.

8. Pumpkin
Start with a simple oval and gradually add curved sections to give your pumpkin its shape. Finish it with a stem and a few little details.

9. Jack-o'-Lantern

This little spider is more cute than scary. Begin with the simple body shapes, add eight legs, and finish with the face.

12. Haunted House
This one has a few more details, but the house itself starts with very basic shapes. Build it one section at a time before adding the windows, doors and spooky finishing touches.
Lightly Sketched Tip:Crooked windows and uneven rooflines actually make a haunted house look better, so don’t worry about perfect lines!
13. Tombstone
Start with the rounded tombstone shape, then gradually add the cracks, grass and spooky details around it.

14. Spooky Candle
A dripping candle is such an easy way to add a slightly spooky feel to your Halloween drawings. Start with the candle shape, add melting wax, and finish with the flame.
Lightly Sketched Tip: Add a soft yellow or orange glow around your flame when you colour it.
Easy Witchy Halloween Doodles
15. Cute Moon
A crescent moon makes a lovely addition to Halloween drawings. Start with the basic crescent shape and then add the little face and details.
Lightly Sketched Tip: Surround your moon with tiny stars, dots or clouds to fill empty space in your doodle.
16. Witch Hat
Start with a tall triangle, add the brim, and then give the hat a slightly bent tip. A simple band finishes the look.
17. Witch's Broom
This easy witch’s broom starts with one long handle. Add the bristles at the bottom and a few small lines for texture.

18. Simple Cauldron

21. Candy Corn
Begin with a rounded triangle, divide it into three sections and you’ve got one of the easiest Halloween treats to draw.

22. Wrapped Candy
Start with a small oval or rounded rectangle and add twisted wrapper ends on either side.

23. Lollipop
Draw a circle, add a swirl and finish with a simple stick. That’s it!

Start with the trunk and gradually branch outward. Crooked, uneven branches are exactly what you want here—they give the tree its spooky Halloween look.

And we’re finishing our 31 Halloween doodles with a simple night sky. Draw your crescent moon first, then add stars and a little cloud around it.

What Can You Do With These Halloween Doodles?
Once you’ve tried a few of these drawings, don’t feel like they have to stay in your sketchbook. Use them to decorate October bullet journal pages, handmade Halloween cards, classroom projects, lunchbox notes, party invitations or little signs around the house.
You can also combine several of the tutorials to create your own Halloween scene. Try a haunted house with bats and a crescent moon, or draw a trick-or-treat bag surrounded by candy, pumpkins and a cute ghost.
Most importantly, have fun with them! Change the faces, colours and little details to make each drawing your own.
