About Me

Andrea's Story

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here.

My name is Andrea, and I’m the creator of Lightly Sketched — a children’s art blog designed to support creativity, emotional well-being, and confidence in kids.

I’ve spent over 18 years teaching Visual Arts and Special Education, and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful art can be in helping children express themselves and manage big emotions.

Lightly Sketched began as something very personal.

When my daughter Chanel was diagnosed with anxiety at the age of 9, I started exploring different ways to support her. Through that journey, I discovered the calming and grounding effects of mindful art — and everything changed.

Today, Chanel is 15, and that experience continues to shape everything I create.

Lightly Sketched is now a growing collection of:

  • Coloring pages
  • Drawing tutorials
  • Creative activities for kids
  • Mindful art resources for classrooms and homes

Everything is designed to be simple, engaging, and supportive — especially for children who may need a creative outlet.

Lightly Sketched is trusted by parents and educators looking for simple, meaningful art activities that support both creativity and emotional well-being.

If you’re a parent, teacher, or caregiver, I hope these resources help the children in your life feel calm, confident, and inspired.
