5 Cool Facts About Lamb and Sheep
Did you know that lambs start playing and running just a few hours after they are born? These little bundles of energy love to hop, leap, and even have races with their fellow lamb friends. Here are some more fun facts about lambs and sheep that will help prepare us for this drawing tutorial:
- Lambs Recognize Their Mother’s Voice
Lambs form a strong bond with their mothers within minutes of being born. Even in a large flock, a lamb can recognize its mother’s voice and call out to her when they get separated.
- Sheep Have Amazing Memories
Studies have shown that sheep can remember up to 50 different faces—both sheep and human—for years! This makes them much smarter than people often think.
- Some Sheep Have Wool That Never Stops Growing
Certain breeds, like Merino sheep, have wool that keeps growing unless they are sheared. If left untrimmed, their fleece can become so heavy that it makes movement difficult.
- Sheep Can See Behind Them Without Turning Their Heads
Thanks to the placement of their eyes on the sides of their heads, sheep have an incredible field of vision. They can see almost all the way around them, which helps them spot predators.
- Lambs Love to Play
Just like puppies or kittens, lambs are full of energy! They love to run, jump, and play together in groups, often engaging in playful “races” across the field.

You can color in your lamb using any media of your choice. Pencil crayons, markers and paint are always great choices for kids. When you color, you can add some wholly details to make your lamb look even fluffier.

Step 9 - Experiment with variations (optional).
You can try drawing different faces, different types of wool, and different colors to make your adorable lamb unique. You can take a look at some of the variations that I made in the drawings below.
When it comes to coloring your lamb, you have a few options. Most lambs are white or cream, but you can add light gray shading for depth. If you want a more playful look, try using pastel colors like soft pink, baby blue, or pale yellow or you can try black for a bolder look.
